Spring into landscapes

As the days become warmer and the first signs of Spring appear, I'm thinking about some of the beautiful landscapes here in the Pacific Northwest. As a regular hiker and cyclist I've been fortunate to see many of these natural beauties in person - which inspires me to want to capture them on canvas. This month I'm starting off with a familiar sight in the Columbia River Gorge for those who live in the area. Here's a sneak peak at the very beginning stage; just blocking in large forms and finding the right color palette. I'll post the final version when it's done.

As always, thank you for your support and interest in my work.

What's next?

For the remainder of February I'll be looking at source material for a classic Pacific Northwest landscape painting. Waterfall? Beach? Forest? Haven't found the right one yet, but check back March 1st
